BetterCase

Terms of service

Effective date: October 10, 2026

These terms govern your use of the BetterCase website at bettercase.app and the BetterCase workspace (together, the "Service"), provided by BetterCase ("we", "us"). By signing in or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a law firm, the agreement between BetterCase and that firm also applies; if the two conflict, the firm agreement controls.

1. Who may use the Service

The Service is invitation-only. It is available to people authorized by a law firm that is a BetterCase client ("client firm") and to BetterCase staff. You may use it only while you are authorized, only for that firm's work or BetterCase's work, and only within the access you have been given. Signing in with Google identifies you; it does not by itself grant access to any firm's information.

2. Your account

Use your own work account and accurate information. Keep your Google account secure and do not share your session or let others use your access. Tell us promptly at matt@bettercase.ai if you believe your account has been misused.

3. Acceptable use

You must not:

4. Confidentiality

Information in a firm's workspace is confidential and may be protected by attorney-client privilege or privacy laws. Use it only for the firm's authorized work, do not disclose it outside the people authorized to see it, and follow your firm's confidentiality obligations. BetterCase keeps each firm's information confidential and uses it only to provide services to that firm, as described in our agreement with the firm and our privacy policy.

5. AI-assisted features

Some features may use artificial intelligence to help search, summarize, organize, or draft. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. It is a starting point for a person to review, not a final answer. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it or acting on it, especially for deadlines, medical or financial details, and communications. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of AI output.

6. No legal advice

BetterCase is not a law firm. Neither BetterCase nor the Service provides legal advice, and nothing in the Service creates an attorney-client relationship with BetterCase. Legal judgments and decisions remain the responsibility of the client firm's attorneys.

7. Your firm's content

As between BetterCase and the client firm, the firm owns the case information it places in the Service. BetterCase owns the Service itself, including its software and design. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of either.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but it may change, be interrupted, or be unavailable at times. Keep the systems your firm requires for official records and deadlines; do not treat the Service as your firm's only record unless your firm agreement says otherwise. We may update the Service and these terms. We will post updated terms on this page with a new effective date and notify users of material changes.

9. Suspension and termination

Your access ends when your firm or BetterCase removes it, when the firm's agreement with BetterCase ends, or when you stop working with the firm. We may suspend or end access immediately if we reasonably believe it is needed to protect the Service, a firm's information, or other users, or if these terms are violated. Sections 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, and 12 continue after access ends.

10. Disclaimers

Except as stated in a written agreement with your firm, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, BetterCase disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, and except as stated in a written agreement with your firm, BetterCase will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from the Service or these terms. BetterCase's total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the fees your firm paid BetterCase for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless your firm's agreement with BetterCase provides otherwise.
